The Down Under is taking the lead this year with four events signed up so far. Aussies rock! Augustine Ang is going to have a music/spoken word poetry event at the Dancing Dog Cafe in Footscray, Victoria, Australia. Any money raised from donations, bake sale and raffle will go to Helping Hands Mission, a non-profit that runs seven opportunity shops across Melbourne and rural Victoria, providing emergency support to families and individuals who are suffering as a result of extreme circumstance.

Princella Talley and her friends in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA, are organizing an outdoor event, distributing organic fruits, herbs and vegetables and kind messages to lower-income communities to show them that they care and to emphasize the benefits of healthy eating.

Valentijn and Janneke Vogel-van Steenderen in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Europe, will be setting up a stage at their Korean restaurant Alleegartje to celebrate a day of live music, good food and vibes, and to raise money for Straatsmensen (Street People), a local organization that prepares meals and collects clothing for the homeless. Valentijn and Janneke are going to install an information screen telling people about Unfuck The World and about the charity they are supporting. A big thanks to the crew and to all bands who are going to work/play for free to help collect as much money as possible.

Christine Boll is back on board for the second time. This year, she is going to organize a vegan picnic at a local park in Tolga, QLD, Australia to bring awareness about animal cruelty and abuse, and we love that!

Nia Adamson‘s  event in Adelaide, S.A., Australia is titled “Ideas To Change The World – Hackathon For Rebels WITH A Cause”. 30 young people 18-30 years old will work in small teams to address a number of problems which have been selected through consultation with the local community. They will have 24 hours to ideate a sustainable solution to the problem at hand. Throughout the 24 hours they will have access to a range of mentors and can participate in workshops to help them develop and pitch their ideas.

The hackathon will be followed by a public pitch event where teams will have the opportunity to present their ideas to the audience and gain feedback from an expert panel. The audience will get to put their money where their mouth is and donate $10 from the cost of their ticket to their favorite idea, helping raise money for the teams to turn the ideas into action. The mentors will also be working with the teams after the event to connect them with people who might be able to help them on their journey.

At the UTW HQ here in Los Angeles, CA, USA, we are going to celebrate the day with the grand opening of the A Million Drops Center. Our own non profit, A Million Drops, just took a big leap and signed the lease for a space in Hollywood where we will offer workshops and programs to the young homeless community. Part of UTW Day will be a photo exhibition with pictures taken by people who sleep rough, and the installation of an edible garden.
