100,000 LIKES ON FACEBOOK

On December 11, we crossed the line. Well, not what you may think … 🙂  We received our 100,000th like on Facebook!

To celebrate this mile stone, we decided to do a give-away, and we asked people to send us a short write-up and pictures of what they do to make this world a better place. Boy, little did we know what we were getting ourselves into … So many submission came in that it took us a little longer than expected to read them all and pick the five winning entries, but finally, here they are, the five winners:

#1) an authentic UTW hoodie goes to Mary Jo in Brownstown, Michigan, USA

#2) an authentic UTW t-shirt goes to Daren Orris in Sihaoukville, Kampot Province, Cambodia

#3) an authentic Fingertree t-shirt goes to Sonia Fischer in Port Aransas, Texas, USA

#4) an authentic, reusable Fingertree water bottle goes to Johnny Meirelles in Maputo, Maputo Province, Mozambique

#5) an authentic, reusable Fingertree water bottle goes to Vibeke Genefke in Arhus, Denmark

Here is what Vibeke (#5) in Denmark does to Unfuck The World: “My family and I have joined a national network of people offering private housing to refugees as we are experiencing a big rise in particularly Syrian refugees. My son has suggested we share the bedroom and offered his room to a refugee. We’re now just waiting on the Danish authorities’ approval. In addition, I volunteer one night a week at a local youth club for young boys of mainly Arabic and Turkish background, offering a variety of counseling. Also, my son and I have a tradition at Christmas: our gifts to each other have to be something where the proceeds go to charity.

To me Unfuck The World is a lifestyle. One I’ve deliberately chosen. It is who I am and I live it but don’t preach it. I know what positive actions – even on a ‘small’ scale – can do and create. It makes me extremely happy, adds to my hopes for the future and confirms my believes being a part of a global and growing network of people all promoting a better world. And Unfuck The World is, as a guy said to me commenting on my tattoo ‘the most fucking genius slogan ever’.”

The entries sent in by the other 4 winners will be published in our next newsletter.

WINTER IN LOS ANGELES

Winter in L.A. means temperatures can go down to the low 30s at night, strong Santa Ana winds blow and some days and nights it feels as though the rain will never end… Since many of the young homeless people living on the streets of Hollywood have nothing but the clothes they wear on their bodies, we decided to call for action, and our UTW supporters have not disappointed us: So far, over 40 sleeping bags and close to 20 tents have been sent to us, as well as tarps and emergency blankets, and we hit the streets every day in search of people in need. We usually refrain from taking pictures of the homeless we interact with, but here are a few who benefitted of our outreach:

Right now, we are out of sleeping bags and tents, and if you would like to help us help others, please consider a monetary or in-kind donation. We made it easy. Here is our link for monetary donations and this is our wish list on Amazon. Both links are handled by our non-profit, A Million Drops, an official 501(c)3, and I guarantee personally that your donation will go directly to the specific areas that it was intended for.
